Sports has the potency to unite people around the globe at a single platform for the sake of unity and coordination. Sports is playing an animated role in motivating people around the globe. Both men and women are interested to participate in sports but still, it is estimated that the male percentage is recorded more in the sports category than female.
Pakistan, as a Muslim country is focusing more on giving more weightage to the concept of gender equality. In all fields, things are improving with time as women are gaining confidence and entering most of the professional fields in Pakistan to justify their role as an essential part of the country’s growth.
Role of Gender in Sports
Gender is a concern all around the world when we are talking about general perspectives regarding various expenses. The process of formulation of various gender equality concerns is going to enhance the process of entrée for women in the sports category as well.
Pakistan is dominated by the male gender in the field of sports, one may name a huge number of cricketers, squash champions, hockey players and boxers from Pakistan but all of them will be males. So, the female percentage is traced to below this is why the gender role seems to be dominated by males.
Increasing the percentage of female gender in sports may indeed reduce domestic violence and let the woman flourish with confidence. The role of women in sports may let her learn more about resilience and teamwork tendencies so she may be a fruitful member of Pakistani society.
We admit the entrée of women can be supportive in adding a proper and convincing role to ensure her support for the promising development in the country. Gender is playing an equal role in the growth of the country, so the women’s presence in sports can be a driver to run the progress plan for gender equalities.
Pakistani Women in Sports
Pakistan is at 151 positions among 153 countries where the economic growth is slowest. We are lagging behind Afghanistan and Yemen only; it is because half of our population (women) are not participating in the economic growth of the country. Women need entrée in all fields, specifically sports.
The role of the Sports Federation is desired in this regard; Pakistan needs a change. They need to create options and opportunities for women to participate in sports and other fields so the country may improve in economic terms.
Females are coming in the sports category but it is noticeable that support and appreciation are low for them, they are receiving low coverage even if they have high caliber. Examples are Sana Mir, Zainab Abbas, Hajra Khan, Toorpaki and Sahib Asra. They are the role models who fought to survive and justify their position in the country to justify their role in sports, as a female.
Future is Optimistic
Hopes are high for the future as optimistic women have to do a lot. Pakistani women comprise more than 50% of the population of the country, so they may change things. Ideally, the women are putting in efforts, the role of the EU is also appreciable in this regard. The ambassador to EU, Hajra Khan is going to idealize the things for women of Pakistan, she is creating opportunities for Pakistani sports women on account of high support from the EU.
Global efforts are not negligible but still support is desirable on the national platform. Pakistan needs more women in the sports category to run the country’s affairs progressively, they may give the best image of Pakistan as they are the true faces of Pakistan.
