I am sure you all must have seen mothers carrying a big baby bag. It is big and stuffed with numerous items. Let’s explore together want goes inside the baby bag.

A Guide to Help New Mothers:

Compulsory Items

(Items that should be kept in the baby bag all the time)

01. Hand Sanitizer:

It is very important to have a hand sanitizer for yourself. Public places can never be trusted. Always clean your hands before touching the baby or doing other tasks such as feeding the baby.

02. Wipes:

God bless the one who invented the wipes. A swipe here and a swipe there and you are done with the job.
Keep this important item in the baby bag.
Keep separate wipes for home so there is no chance that you would forget to put it in the baby bag while going out.

03. Sheet:

It is another important item for maintaining hygiene. Make sure that you never change baby’s diaper in public washroom without the sheet.
It is not only to be used in the public washrooms but make sure to spread it before changing baby’s diaper at someone’s place. It is against etiquettes to change the diaper while lying baby directly on to someone’s bed sheet, rug etc.

04. Shopping Bags:

Keep four to five shopping bags in the baby bag. When you are at someone’s place. It is against the manners to throw the dirty diaper straight away in the dustbin.

05. Diapers… duh

Obviously all the items mentioned above can only be used when you have extra diaper in the baby bag. Imagine the horror of not having it when it is needed, scary …right. Therefore avoid such scenario by making sure you have diapers in the baby bag.

06. Towel:

Keep a towel or a piece of cloth in the baby bag. The purpose is to use it in case you wash the baby after changing the diaper and now you have to pat and dry the baby.
It is important for two reasons

• It is not appropriate to ask the host to let you use their daily usage towel for drying your baby’s private parts.
• Even if it is to be used for drying baby’s hands and face. It is unhygienic to use it for the baby.

Spontaneous Items

(Items to be placed in the baby bag before leaving the home)
These items are very important but cannot be placed all the time in the baby bag. It is advisable for new mothers to make a check list of these items. The checklist will assist them to make sure all these things are there in the baby bag before leaving the home.

Set One:

• Feeder
• Powdered Milk
• Water Bottle

Set Two

• Baby Food
• Baby Spoon
• Napkin

An extra set of clothes along with the above mentioned items comes in the list of spontaneous items to be placed in the baby bag.

Optional Items:

01. Container Pump

Take a small container pump and fill it with water. Keep it in the baby bag. It will come handy in different situations such as if the baby drops the spoon while eating somewhere out in the public place. It can be immediately washed away. Likewise if the baby spills food on the clothes. Tissue dabbed in the water can be used to get rid of the strain.

02. Toy:

Keep a toy in the baby bag. Sometimes a fuzzy baby can only be soothed by giving the baby favourite toy.

03. A Small Kit:

This one is not for baby but for the mothers. If you are one of those mothers who are totally comfortable to carry a separate handbag along the baby bag then you may ignore this point. However if you fall in the other category that is you avoid carrying anything other than the big baby bag. You would know the struggle of finding your stuff (cell phone, lip gloss etc.) from the baby bag. It takes forever to do it. Here is a little tip to tackle the situation. Keep a small kit with all your essential items (makeup, money, cell phone etc.) in that kit. Place the kit in a separate pocket in the baby bag.

Doing so would enable you to find your things easily in the baby bag.
