TIP NO 1: A HAPPY MOTHER LEADS TO A HAPPY BABY
Take care of your needs first then your baby. If you are not healthy mentally, physically and emotionally then your baby will suffer for that as well. So, mothers take care of your sleep, rest and do the things that make your happy. If you are in a good mood then your baby will also be in a good mood and you can take care of him/her better. Contrary to what mothers think that the baby comes first, it’s the mother that comes first. If you do not have a healthy mother then you will not have a healthy baby as the baby is dependent on mothers feed and care. Motherhood is a magical experience and even with its ups & downs one must enjoy it. No matter who says to you what, you have to eat healthy, exercise, enjoy music, watch movies when the baby sleeps, go for a walk, talk to your partner and relax as much as you can.
TIP NO 2: GET TO BED EARLY WITH THE BABY
One of the best ways for mothers to be energetic, recharged and active in the morning is for them to get to bed early. It might be difficult for a few weeks with the baby but once you start practicing early bedtime routine your baby will follow and he/she will switch to the same routine. After this you will experience that your baby is recharged, healthy and growing as well. The baby will follow your routine of sleeping and waking up. By practicing early bedtime routine your baby will also get the sleep he/she needs to be healthy and your health will improve as well.
TIP NO 3: WAKE THE BABY UP DURING FEEDING
This tip comes straight from so many mothers with babies from all around the world. When you are feeding the baby make sure he is awake and does not doze away during eating or while you are feeding the baby he/she is drowsy. As a new mom your instinct might be to let the baby sleep but that is the exact opposite of what needs to be done. The best trick is to massage the baby feet, hands or cheeks while you are feeding to get the blood circulation going & making the baby more active and awake. The baby has to eat a stomach full of feed before going to bed. Once the baby is well fed the baby will sleep longer, healthier and will give you time to relax or catch up on your sleep as well. There are many new moms who prefer breastfeeding then feeding from the bottle even then you need to massage the baby cheeks and keep him/her awake. Breastfeeding is the traditional and the most natural way of feeding the baby.
TIP NO 4: MAKE BABY BATH TIME ENJOYABLE
Generally by the third week the umbilical cord falls off and you get the chance to give your baby its first proper bath. It is always a good idea to make it a milestone and an event to enjoy, rejoice and be happy about. One tip that we got which has worked wonders for mothers all over the world is that when you prepare the bath for your baby keep the water warm at a comfortable level as babies do not have the capacity to regulate their body temperature yet as we do. Secondly before putting your baby in the water put a warm watered damped small tower on the belly of your baby & then put him/her in the water. This will give your baby comfort and will make a lot of difference on the attitude and reaction of the baby while in the bath. You might have heard about two types of babies during bath one that is very happy and enjoys it the other a miserable one who cries and is difficult to give bath to. Do remember to turn on the heat a bit during bath of your room so when you take the baby out of the bath the air temperature difference does not shock the baby and is in a comfortable zone for the baby.
TIP NO 5: YOUR BABY IS NOT A COMPETITION
Make sure you have this in your mind and always keep it at the top that your baby is not a competition. Motherhood is not a competition and you do not have to compare your baby with others as each baby has a unique personality and they will grow at their own pace and time. Many parents like to boast about their baby, their routines, try to taunt and criticize other mothers parenting practices. Your baby is a part of you and is not something to use as a competition. He/SHE needs your care not just physically but emotionally and mentally as well. Give your baby space to grow on its own terms. Try to avoid people who make parenting a competition and give positive vibes to your baby. There is nothing more precious than your child’s health and you have to remind yourself this. In many cases due to comments made by other parents, the mother’s attitude becomes aggressive towards the baby which needs to be avoided at all cost.
