How to Make Alo Ki Bhujya in Pakistan

We bring you a very easy way to make ALO KI BHUJYA. This is a staple diet for all Pakistanis and a house hold name. This is a quick dish that serves the purpose of not only fulfilling your tummy but also making you happy as well.

INGREDIANTS

  1. Number of potatoes as per required. Take 4 to 5 large potato and make thick slices. Do not make thin slice otherwise they will dissolve while cooking. This will serve about 2 to 3 people.
  2. Slice 2 medium sized onions
  3. One (1) table spoon of ginger paste
  4. One & a half (1 & 1/2) table spoon of garlic paste
  5. Chop 3 medium sized tomatoes
  6. Half (1/2) table spoon of turmeric powder
  7. One (1) table spoon of red chilli powder or as per your taste
  8. Two (2) table spoon of fenugreek leaves (meithi). This step can be skipped as some people do not put fenugreek leaves (meithi) in this dish.
  9. One and a half (1 & 1/2) table spoon of cumin seeds.
  10. One (1) table spoon of Nigella Seeds (Kalonji)
  11. Half (1/2) cup of cooking oil
  12. Water One (1) or Two (2) glasses

RECIPE

  1. Heat the pan with cooking oil until the oil is hot.
  2. Add the sliced onions in the pan and you should hear a sizzling noise.
  3. Add ginger paste to the pan.
  4. Add garlic paste to the pan.
  5. Fry onions, ginger & garlic till it turns golden brown.
  6. Add cumin seeds to the pan.
  7. Add Nigella Seeds (Kalonji) to the pan.
  8. Add dried fenugreek leaves (meithi) to the pan.
  9. Add tomatoes to the pan.
  10. Add salt as per taste to the pan.
  11. Add turmeric to the pan.
  12. Add red chilli mix to the pan.
  13. Mix all the ingredients well so they are fully mixed with each other.
  14. Wait for 2 to 3 minutes on high flame.
  15. Add potatoes to the pan and mix it well so all the masala is marinated with the potatoes.
  16. Wait for 1 minute.
  17. Add water to the mix and cook on medium flame till the potatoes are cooked and the water is dried.
  18. You can add green chilli at the end as garnish.
  19. You can also add mint leaves as garnish.
  20. Serve the dish hot and enjoy.
