The moment we switch on the TV we get to see either a saas plotting against a very bechari bahu or a woman falling for her friend’s man. Tired of watching this, RIGHT?
Dobara questions the so called norms of our Society!!
We suggest you to go for drama serial Dobara airing on Hum TV. Dobara touches a sensitive yet ignored issue lingering in our society for the longest time. It talks about the irrational expectations of our society from a widow.
A woman losses her husband and everyone expects her to mourn the deceased for the rest of her life.
Dobara also talks about another issue, the challenges a woman faces if she makes the “mistake” to fall for a man younger than her age.
Dobara – The Storyline
Mehru, played by Hadiqa Kiani, is a free spirited woman who refuses to succumb to the so called norms of the society. Her past is the reason for her rebellious nature. Mehru got married to a much older man, again applause for the writer, for getting attention to the double standards of our society. It is perfectly normal to let a much older man get married to young woman, but you switch the places and everyone losses their minds.
She led a very submissive life. She wasn’t allowed to do anything that her mizaji Khuda did not approve. Her child like spirit gets crushed with this suffocating lifestyle. Now when he isn’t around to dictate her anymore, she is ready to take on the world. Every new day she is shaking off the remnants of her precious dull life
She is ready to live, and more importantly fall in love.
A Perfect Blend of the Cast!!
A good story without good acting is never enough. We are glad a topic like this did not go to waste as everyone doing justice to their respective roles.
Hadiqa Kiani
Oh my!! Who would have thought back then in the “jeevan ki rah mai” days that a talented singer would turn out to be an equally amazing actress. .We were still in awe of her character Sakina from “Raqeeb Sai” and she gives us THIS.
Kuddos to her for portraying Mehru with perfection. Be it dialogue delivery or body language, she simply nailed it!!!
Bilal Abbas Khan
Well I am already a fan so I am going to be biased. Hehehe.
His innocence is enough to get you hooked to the screen. But he is certainly a lot more than just a good looking face. He makes you feel sorry for the character as we see him being tangled in his ill fate.
“Aray nahi sorry ki kia bat, mujay adat hai, meray sat pehli bar nai hua aisay”
His words, when he is told by Mehru’s son to leave the house right away, makes the audience feel for him.
Sakina Samo
You see her. You hate her( character, We love you Ma’am) . The way she glares angrily every time Mehru is making an effort to live a little for her self, makes the audience hate her. By the way that is an achievement if the character is negative.
Dobara A play not to be missed !!
All in all, Dobara is a drama that should not be missed. It is high time that we come up with more projects like this. There are numerous issues that need our attention. Dramas like Dobara makes us wonder that how easily we label an unjust act as norm in our society.
Ending on a lighter ( & musical) note, do not forget to listen to the OST of the drama. It will give you yet another reason to become Dobara’s fan.
Happy watching !!
