They say eating healthy makes you live long, now who wants to die young? Of course nobody SO my friend improve your diet. Most of the people in our society today are so much indulged in unhealthy (junk) eating that they have now stopped pondering about their dietary intake each day.
Now as most people would make excuses about the shortage of time in their routine to maintain healthy eating, USDA (United States department of agriculture) has long ago proposed this food guide wheel which recommends you to eat something daily from each group. YES!! As simple as that. JUST ROTATE WITH THE WHEEL!!!
Starting from group 1 and so on….
VEGETABLES:
Does not matter which one you add in your daily intake because all are steps to healthy eating. Make this a habit of yours to eat any favorite vegetable a day. Mostly cooking destroys all essential nutrients so eating a raw vegetable e.g. cucumber, tomatoes is advisable.
FRUITS:
Although seems strange but most of us lack fruits completely in their diet. Start with 2 or 3 in season fruits a day and you will find yourself craving for them each day.
Fruits perform so many healthy functions e.g. oranges and tomatoes are excellent for skin.
MILK AND MILK PRODUCTS:
Now this is where most people will quit. BUT WHY? Milk is a complete diet essential for strong bones. In addition to the nutritional aspects, the lesser known aspect of milk intake is that it acts as a laxative preventing constipation. Add any flavor to it if you do not like its natural flavor.
MEAT AND POULTRY:
Since meat has high protein content it helps in muscle development. Eggs are also rich in protein. Fish and chicken meat are also excellent protein sources. Adding any one of these in your daily intake is a must to pursue healthy eating.
WHEAT AND CEREALS:
Most people when going on a diet completely spare themselves from wheat intake which is very wrong. A friend of mine did this and ended up having pellagra (occurrence of dark spots on skin) YOU ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WANT THAT, RIGHT? Rice and cereals should also be consumed adequately.
FATS:
There is this huge misconception prevailing that eliminating fats completely form your diet helps in rapid weight loss. It does, but has plenty of side effects that you certainly do not want. It is true that excessive fat intake can make you obese but it’s under consumption can result in dryness which can also result in flaky skin and hair.
So watch out for all these and YOU ARE ALL SET FOR A HEALTHY MIND AND A SOUND BODY…!!
